Brandon Dawkins is a father of five, with four of his children attending Antioch Unified schools. His commitment to public education isn't just personal—it's been at the center of his work as a community and labor leader for years.
Brandon has worked for the City and County of San Francisco for the past 18 years, currently as a Health Worker with the San Francisco Department of Public Health. He is a proud member of SEIU Local 1021, where he previously served as Vice President of Organizing. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Africana Studies with an emphasis in Behavioral Sciences from San Francisco State University.
Throughout his career, Brandon has been a dedicated organizer and advocate for working families, students, and public education. He played a leading role in the fight to stop school closures in Oakland and helped lead efforts to replace armed police officers in Oakland schools with unarmed school safety staff focused on building relationships, restoring school culture, and de-escalating conflicts.
In Antioch, Brandon has continued that commitment by serving on the Antioch Unified School District Safety Committee and as a parent representative on the district's Community Schools Steering Committee. He has also been a strong advocate for special education, working alongside teachers and families to secure the resources students need to succeed. As the parent of a child in Antioch Unified's special education program, Brandon understands firsthand the difference that well-supported educators can make in a child's life.
Brandon is running for the Antioch Unified School Board because he believes every student deserves the opportunity to thrive. He knows that when schools invest in the whole child with strong academics, safe learning environments, and the support every student needs, we build stronger families, stronger schools, and a stronger community.
